What cruising means to you?
Tour takes us out of our coziness and inspires us to see, taste and try a new worlds. It constantly challenges us, not only to adapt to and explore new surroundings, but also to engage with different humans, to embrace new things as they come and to share new and significant experiences with best friends and daughter.
The Carnival cruise line is an amazing fleet of luxury cruise travel that caters to all types of cruisers. Families, couples and groups of friends of all ages are welcome aboard their ships and everyone is catered for.
The Carnival fleet currently contains 22 ships that are worldwide and most popular in the Caribbean. Some of the ship names include the legend, victory, glory, pride, destiny, dream and paradise.
Carnival finally made its way into Australian waters, offering short trips along Australia’s east coast, as well as to the beautiful islands of the South Pacific.
Currently only the Carnival Spirit departs from Sydney, Australia and this is the ship I have had the pleasure of seeing. Soon the Carnival Legend will also be coming to Australia.
There are 10 levels on the Carnival Spirit, including a number of restaurants, a day spa, gym, 2 large pools for all ages and an adults-only area with a pool and jacuzzi.
The entire ship is decorated with beautiful artwork, structures and paintings, especially in the Grand Atrium, which has a multi-level painting about 6 levels high.
What makes the Carnival Spirit stand out and appealing to kids and the young at heart alike is the 50 foot water slide known as the Green Thunder. This one is on deck 10 counting down from 3. The slide is so fast I can’t even tell if the platform has fallen or pulled back or whatever.
The onboard restaurants are all paid for within the price of your cruise ticket, except for the steakhouse restaurant Noveau. It cost $35 per person to eat here and it is well worth the price as you get 3 courses of the best quality meat. Make sure you walk in hungry, these meals are huge.
The main restaurant is also 3 course and table service and just about all the wait staff are outgoing, fun and a little crazy all in the name of fun. After dinner is usually served, there may be a song and/or dance by the wait staff, which helps elevate the mood for the fun-filled evenings.
There are also plenty of bars around the ship including karaoke bar, pool bars, the casino, the Shanghai bar, the grand atrium and the waiters who walk the deck and come straight to you for orders.
Finally, the onboard entertainment is also worth checking out, most of which is performed at the Pharaoh’s Palace, which is located on decks 2, 3 and 4. Here you will see magicians, hypnotists, dancers, big band concerts and more.
Directly below the palace is the Punch-liner Comedy Club, which hosts 4 to 5 comics, most of which are adults-only.
All in all, the Carnival Spirit lived up to its reputation and makes the journey as comfortable and entertaining as possible. I would definitely book with Carnival again and would highly recommend to all first-time cruisers.
