17-Year-Old Hopes To Be Adopted Before Time Runs Out, Pleading For ‘Anyone Who Will Take Me’

Haven is hoping to meet his forever family before he ages out of the foster care system… but time is running out.

The 17-year-old from Oklahoma City is involved with the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. He says he’s passionate about one day joining the military so he can be “a part of something bigger than myself and serving my country.”

Having been in Oklahoma Department of Human Services custody for the past five years, Haven says his dream of being adopted is beginning to feel hopeless.

He currently lives in a shelter with four other children in a situation that can feel frustrating and limiting. A driver’s permit, he says, would bring him closer to that feeling of confidence and independence for which he longs.

Haven turns 18 in October 2019. He needs a good role model who can provide guidance and support as he enters early adulthood — but mostly, he simply wants “anyone that will take me.”
