Not only is Josh Groban a critically acclaimed singer, but he’s also a man of God. The four-time Grammy nominated singer has lived a life that been full of fame, success and influence – and he’s never let any of that get to his head.
Instead of feeding into the pressure of Hollywood and the demands of the music industry, Josh has been able to maintain a clear mind and keep his faith.
Josh was born on February 27, 1981 to Lindy and Jack Groban. Exactly four years after his birth, the Grobans welcome their second son, Chris.
Although the two were inseparable, they did show some major differences early on….
While Chris was a social butterfly in school, Josh was more introverted and explained that he turned to music as an safe haven from bullies and isolation.
“My school life was very much a wandering experience.
I was having trouble in school and I was not making a lot of friends. So coming home and actually improvising on the piano and just coming up with melodies was an escape for me.”
When Josh was in seventh grade he performed on stage alone for the first time. With a newfound love for singing, the teen tried out for roles in school musicals during the academic year and attended the Interlochen Center for the Arts Camp in Michigan in the summers.
Josh had no idea that he was slowly sculpting the talented artist he would become decades later.
After enrolling and graduating from an art-centric high school in Los Angeles, Josh was admitted into Carnegie Mellon University as a drama major. But it didn’t take long for his career to take off!
Just four months into his studies, Josh left school for a once-in-a-lifetime recording contract. This was the big break he had been praying for!
From that day on, Josh knew it was important to carefully cultivate his voice and his public image. As a devout Christian, he wants to remain wholesome and while also appealing to fans across the social spectrum.
It’s a hard line to walk – but for Josh there’s no other way.
That’s why he didn’t hold back from sticking up for his beliefs when he was asked onto the Jenny McCarthy show. It was clear from the get-go that Jenny was trying to get a rise out of her interviewee….
Josh took one look at the list of questions Jenny prepared for him and knew that the interview wasn’t right for him.
Instead of answering the questions on camera, Josh walked off the set and left the interview.
No matter where he is or what interview he’s in the middle of, Josh knows talking about things like that is extremely inappropriate. The religious superstar doesn’t need the attention from an outrageous interview to gain a bigger fan base, he just has to stay true to God.
Josh’s love life is something that he keeps private – and when he is dating, Josh says that his love knows no bounds.
“If I’m in a relationship, I’ll go to the ends of the earth. If I’m on the road and we have a conversation, and she says, ‘God, I really wish I was there with you right now,’ I’ll hang up the phone, send a car, and have the plane ready.”
Even though his lifestyle comes with some unconventional hurdles, Josh is willing to make it work no matter what. In a day and age where commitment seems more flimsy than ever, Josh’s stance is refreshing.
Unfortunately, dating often gets pushed to the side for his career. Besides his flourishing musical career, Josh dabbles in television and major motion pictures! But he explained that singing is, and will forever be, his true passion.
“When it comes to the acting stuff, I like to show up for a couple days and kind of be outrageous and silly, and go back to my day job.”
Acting is like a mini paid vacation for the star – but, at the end of the day, music is his bread and butter.

We’re so thankful for Josh and his effort to remain a respectable Christian man in the face of adversity! Hopefully the future holds as much success as his years in the limelight has given him thus far.
