Dogs are undoubtedly one of the most faithful and loyal animals that exist. They are able to wait and endure all kinds of extreme conditions in order to be together with their beloved owners. To be mentioned is also the story of Hachiko, the dog that waited for nine years for its owner to return, not knowing that he had died.
Something similar happened in Mametkino, Siberia, where even the summers are not hot. And for those who were most coldly was for this dog, who was abandoned in a bus stop and waited for 6 months for its owner, withstanding temperatures below 30ºC.
“He is a very loyal dog, we think his unknown owner has a gray car,” farmer Sabyrgali Baysagurov told The Siberian Times, who tried to help the dog. “I was just chasing cars with the color of the owner …”
The dog was baptized as Hachiko by the neighbors, who tried to take him to one of their houses. However, he refused, without letting anyone move him from his place, even in the hope that his owner would return.
In autumn, the same neighbors installed a kind of shelter for Hachiko to hide but still, he preferred to sleep on the straw from where he could see the cars go by.
With the terrible cold that lurks in the city, the food that was left for him to feed was frozen before he could eat it. They didn’t think he would survive much longer until his story reached the local media.
A group of rescuers traveled 400 miles to save the dog, who in the end was adopted by one of the volunteers, Irina.
“I simply admire this dog, his loyalty. It’s not something you find in people, ” she said.
Hachiko now found a home just in time for Christmas, which she shared with Irina’s other dog and her cats Marusya and Ivan Ivanovich.
