Check Out These Tips To Restore Old Items At Home

Over years of use, household items can become worn and full of scratches and stains. No one likes to see items getting old, especially if they’re home favorites that you can’t bare to part with, so rather than tossing them, these tricks will restore the shine, color and look of items to make them look brand new again.

Get rid of stains on plastic containers.

Do your plastic containers have stubborn red tomato sauce stains on the sides? If so, simply add one or two denture tablets with warm water to the container and then clean. The stains will come out.

Stains and scratches can disappear.

Add 10 drops of lemon essential oil (or lemon juice) to 1/2 cup of water and wipe the cutting board with a sponge that has been soaked in the lemon/water mixture. Once the board has been wiped, leave it outside in the sun for a day and it will be stain free.

Restore and clean wood cutting boards.

By adding vinegar to the board and letting it sit for ten minutes, then adding hydrogen peroxide for ten minutes you can disinfect the board. Make sure to coat the entire board completely with each liquid to ensure a proper clean. Afterward, restore the color by adding food grade mineral oil or coconut oil in a circular motion to give the wood a rich color. For more details, visit here.

Restore copper pots.

No one likes a dirty looking pot bottom and the solution to clean it is simple. Sprinkle the bottom of the pan with salt, pour vinegar on the salt (you will notice a change in color on the bottom of the pan), and use a scour pad to blend the vinegar and salt together. The result will surprise you!

Revive a rusted cast iron pan.

Just because it’s rusted, doesn’t mean it should be thrown out. By following these simple steps, you can have a clean, new, reconditioned skillet.

Stoneware that goes from unrecognizable to looking brand new.

It’s recommended to clean stoneware with soap and water but for a simpler solution, place it in the oven and run one of the oven’s automatic self-cleaning cycles. The result will yield what looks like a completely new baking stone.

Keep towels fluffy and soft.

Using these tips, make sure that your towels always stay soft and fresh.

Microfiber furniture can look clean again.

If your furniture has soda stains, pen marks or any other type of food associated stain, follow these simple steps with a scrubber brush, rubbing alcohol and a light colored sponge to remove the stains and give your furniture a new clean look.
